he elements of its rhetorical situation
audience(music industry, music listeners who may listen to cold play and the people who already listen to cold play)
purpose(to show that cold play is a whiny band of self pity)
context
topic(how much cold play sucks, basically the authors dislike for cold play and how he believes they are whiny and full of self pity)
author(Jon Pareles, a guy who hates cold plays music about self pity and the sound of the singers voice)
He calls cold play the most insufferable band of the decade. Stating that the singers voice made him wish he did not know English. The music full of self pity, lust anger and greed stating that their is nothing wrong with using them to spur on song writing but with cold play you get all of them.
ethos pathos and logos- i can not read far enough in to this article to get this information with my already strong dislike for Cold Play and my growing contempt for this author it makes this impossible to read fully as it has already given me a head-ache.
objections.
Complaints- he seemed to not get his point across well enough he tried to hard to make it an art piece and it turned me off as a reader. The only reason i got past most of the second page was because it was assigned to me. After getting that far I've grown to hate the writer more than i hate cold play at this point.

I don't think I share your extremely negative view of the writer though I'm with you there on coldplay. It seems to me you went into this with a pretty big bias that you weren't particularly willing to look past which is something that will get you in trouble when writing an argumentative essay.
lol i agree with the ending there on the writer. For me it turned from dislike of band to really not caring about the band but getting bugged by the authors tone and mood
I didn't have the bias agenst the writer until i tried to read this.
